Everything we ate was really really amazing! The staff and owner were amazing also! This is the best Mediterranean food I've ever had!

Excellent food! Patio seating. Loved the falafel. Portions are generous and reasonable cost.

Great food and service! Highly recommend their salads, especially the Fruitti de Mare with big chunks of Maine lobster!

Me and my wife came in to eat but we were ignored from the moment we went in there had to wait 5 to 7 minutes just to be seated. We were not made welcomed by any of the servers. When we were seated I asked for a few minutes so I could read the menu And our waitress never suggested a single item she seemed like she wanted to go attend to other diners besides us. When she finally did come back to my table I was fed up and I left I don’t think I’ll ever come back here they say that people will buy on experience my experience here at Basil has ruined my taste for it I will never come back.

Basil consistently offers fresh, plentiful menu options, friendly service, and an awesome atmosphere! This place is a local gem, can't recommend highly enough!

Everything is delicious! I’ve literally tried the pastas, gyros, steak and cheese sub and fries, the salads including one with lamb - all absolutely fantastic! The portions are huge too. I can’t wait for them to secure their ABC license so I can enjoy a drink on the patio when it warms up!

A very fancy and cozy place to get great meals

I have had an excellent experience each visit.I love the great food,atmosphere and outstanding customer service.My family and I and fellow coworkers will continue dining in and ordering take out from this amazing restaurant.The food is so delicious, hot and fresh -melts my mouth and to top it off with a fresh ingredients cold glass of wine, what more can you ask for. I am very pleased and impressed and I highly recommend. Thank you for your great food and service each visit .

We had an excellent meal and the waiter was very attentive. The outside seating on a pleasant day was great. I look forward to visiting the location again.

This was my 2nd visit & it was more amazing than the first. Today was incredibly busy and there was only one wait staff. He nailed it! Food was served correct, timely & delicious. Superior service! Thank you. The menu is quite extensive with something for everyone, prices are reasonable and it's beautifully decorated. Ample parking. Highly recommend.

My daughter and I had pasta, I had tortellini and she had gnocchi; both were excellent. My husband had chicken shawarma which he also enjoyed. It was quite busy for an early Sunday evening, but the service was also very good. We ended the meal with cheesecake, which we all thought was quite good as well. I would definitely recommend it. There is an extensive menu, something for anyone, I would think.

I’ve been here four times now, twice to the old location and twice to the new. Consistently amazing food, service, and prices. They have the portions for the price just right. I’m always wowed by the amount of food I get and the little touches they add in such as extra oil, spice, and additional add ons that take their dishes to the next level. Their online takeaway order system and social distancing pick up was easy and amazing! I recommend the dolmas, phoenetian tasting, Paninis, Lebanese pita wraps and baklava, all of which exceeded expectation. It’s not easy to find this level of perfection for the price in Charlottesville. No comparison, this place is priceless!

Nice place for a Mediterranean lunch. Lentil soup was very good. Photos on the wall are additional attraction.

Amazing service, great food. I had the bleu cheese panini and it was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend, and would be willing to drive the hour from Richmond for this again.

This has by far been the the restaurant recommendation I’ve ever received. Basil exceeded all my expectations in not just the food but the service. Redd, our server, was not just great at making recommendations based on our requests but a delightful personality that added color and seasoning to out perfect night. To top it off we got to talk to the owner, who is also the chef who prepares all the exquisite dishes, and made an amazing connection to someone who truly has a passion for food and bringing taste of his heritage to his guests. My suggestion... if you come to Charlottesville and don’t stop by this amazing place, you have truly missed out. Far exceeds all expectations and and a must visit. If you come once you will undoubtably want to come again.

1st of all the food was amazing. I would give higher stars based on food alone. It was fresh and delicious and we loved every thing that we ordered.This restaurant has recently moved from another location and switched owners so they are still working out kinks. The restaurant has no ambience. Minimal décor and too much lighting. We went on a Saturday night at 6:00 p.m.. The restaurant was almost full but there was only one server. He was overwhelmed and it took a long time to order. Despite the wait, our food arrived quickly but the portion sizes were huge . We couldn't eat anymore after we finished the appetizers., and we ordered the "small" sizes. We also never received any drinks other than water, and neither did anyone else in the restaurant. I think once they figure out their stride, things will be much better. Still, I will definitely go back for the food.

Delicious sandwiches with fries and salad. Huge menu and great service. We will return to try their pasta, seafood and many other dishes. Only downside, the heat was set too high so the room was uncomfortable.

I went to basil for the first time last time since they've moved away from the UVA corner and I had a great experience. The outdoor space has a great aesthetic and I can't wait to come back when the weather is nice. We had the phonecian tasting to start and I had the chicken rosemary ravioli as my entree. The atmosphere was awesome and the food was delicious! I definitely can't wait to go back!

Great food and tremendous service! I recently placed a GrubHub order that was not delivered. The staff at Basil were wonderful and refunded me promptly and remade my order. Additionally, they threw in several extra items for free. Very classy business with great service!

We had a great time, the service was wonderful and I really enjoyed the food. I really liked the labneh and kebabs. My 7 year olds top things: delicious gelato, yummy pita and chicken, good music.

Food is delicious. Still no ABC license, for some unknown reason. Loud, could use acoustic ceiling. Wait staff was good. Bar is half built. Kind of a strange experience

One of the best dining experiences ever! I frequent Basil for lunch and dinner with friends. The menu has so much to offer and the waitstaff is incredible! Definitely worth the visit if you've never been!

Our lunch experience was fantastic! Excellent food, menu options and portions for an amazing price (things that are a little hard to find in one place here these days)! Our service was also excellent... Personable and attentive. They are still settling into their new digs, but don't let the deter you!

My boyfriend and I came here for a date and had a great experience! We sat outside which was lovely and our waiter as well as our food, was AWESOME! It couldn't have been a better experience for being our first eat out experience after being quarantined for so long. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great tasting food.

puzzled by all the 5 star reviews. the dolma appetizer was ok, nothing special. the pasta i got was a minor disaster. tortellini was overcooked, decent selection of veggies drowned in a salty cream sauce. the house salad was promising but had something missing-- i think they may have just forgotten the vinegar. not worth $17. my boyfriend said his "lamb" kebab tasted more like beef. as others have mentioned, the ambience was weird and there was no liquor license. for good mediterranean food in charlottesville, try sultan kebab downtown or aromas in the fontaine research park.

Get the blood orange mimosa, you won't regret it. We come most weekends for brunch and it is amazing! Portions are large, food is delicious, and we have never had bad service. Shout out to our most recent server, Red, she was absolutely the best. The girl had 6 tables and never missed a beat.

Quick service, delicious food. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Wonderful Mediterranean aesthetic (reminded me of restaurants in Italy). The salads are particularly delicious. HIGHLY recommend this place.

Came here for Father's Day lunch, and although we encountered a couple of issues, the waiter Josh took care of us, and was very friendly the entire time we were there. Management/Owners were amazing and remedied our issues and was more then we could of even asked for. Thank you for taking care of us and thank you Josh for being amazing!!!
